Gem Lake Hills: Turtle Rescue

Well, just because I moved out of Texas does not mean the wildlife rescues have to stop! Yesterday afternoon I found a turtle in the shop at work. This is a painted turtle and I believe she was looking for a place to lay her eggs. The turtles are going nuts laying eggs all over Minnesota right now, and unfortunately getting stranded and run over by cars and all sorts of bad stuff. I don't know why this little lady thought the shop looked like a likely place to nest her brood, but I knew it was never going to work. So I took her back out to the pond, to try a different strategy.

These turtles are extremely common in Minnesota, yet they are so beautiful!
