New Pictures!

Maybe it's because I am getting close to leaving Texas, or maybe it's because I've been locked in my house for two weeks, or maybe it's really because I just don't do anything interesting anymore; either way I've had very little to contribute to the blog for some time. I was considering just throwing in the towel, but some of my loyal followers are continuing to demand more content. SO, I just took my camera to school today- and here is what I got:

This is the IO central desk in the computer lab. It is like central command for the whole school. Chelsea works there now (with Laura). It is good to have someone on the inside.

Shannon conversing with Chelsea at her station. I usually come visit her here for lunch or a snack during her shifts.

This is my desk this semester. It is the first time we have been in a different studio out of the whole 6 semesters I have been here.

View out my window. So lovely.

This is where the magic really happens though. The file Shannon and I are working on now is so big that we need to use our professor's mega computer in his office. This is great because the computer lab where we usually work is like a dungeon. This place is posh, it has a balcony, not to mention those two huge screens and the super processor.

Office balcony. It's just nice to see the sunshine and get fresh air.

The huge plan we are working on. It is going to be pretty awesome when we are done.

Today was a very special day because we had Michael Van Valkenburgh in from New York to speak with our program. He is THE HOT landscape architect of the moment. He does just about every major park in New York City, and he is doing the Bush Library in Dallas. It was a big deal for us.

Just about everyone in landscape architecture at UT. Mirka, the professor I work for, is on the right in the green/yellow shirt. She is great. Notice how it is about 80% women. I am interested to see how that translates into the workforce.

Hope and Jason, our other professors.

And the Dean, Fritz Steiner, with Allan Shearer, our most feared professor. Sorry I did not get a pic of M.V.V. I thought it would be rude seeing I had never met him before. He just looked like a New York designer, pretty standard.

Fun window onto your life at UT. It all seems so sophisticated and grown-up to me.
