2002- St. Claire

I had a recent urge to get back into photography (which I have forsaken for the last 3 years of grad school). I shot a bunch of rolls of 120 and got really excited. I took them to the local processing place, and was sadly reminded of how similar practicing film photography is to flushing 20 dollar bills straight down the toilet. You see, I had wound 1 roll backwards- so it was completely empty. Bummer! And I had forgotten that my other 3 rolls were slide film, not regular, which requires a completely different exposure setting- so I am pretty sure that they are goners too. The only silver lining was that I had a roll of 35 film labeled '2002' which has been traveling around with me with everywhere for the past 9 years, and I finally decided to see what was on it. Now check it out:
It was a whole roll of these two little kids that used to live together on St. Claire avenue in Saint Paul.

Can you believe this?!?! I can barely. It seems like a crime of sorts that we tried this experiment at all, being so young. And I know now why some of you were shaking your heads at the time, it must have been a little bit scary to watch.
I have to say though that through all of our ups and downs and hard times, Eric and I have somehow managed to continue to love each other and return to each other again and again. And I am so glad we are still together and better than ever. It is a lot easier after all the growing up we have done in the last 9 years. And I can't wait to see how things change in the next 9 years and beyond. (love you baby -xoxo)

It was like watching a train wreck. The photo of you in the cap - you wore that expression a lot in those days.

What do they say...."Youth would be the ideal state if it came a little later in life." Somehow, you two crazy lovebirds have survived.

I'm sorry some of your rolls didn't/might not come out, because I love to see your pictures. But I think it's a great idea to take a roll of film and not develop it for a decade. Do it again!!! I will too! Let's reconvene in 10 years and swap pics. We'll buck the trend of this digital generation.
