A real job!

Very exciting news this week! Shannon, Chelsea, and I have been hired by a baptist church in the hill country to design a new city park. This is our first real design as landscape architects!
We drove out to scout the location on Tuesday. It is about an hour and a half drive from Austin.
They have a parcel of land out back, with a bunch of old oak trees, that they are donating to the city for a park. We are going to draw up the plans and they are going to use them to get some grants from the LCRA (Lower Colorado River Authority) to build the park.
Inside their defunct gymnasium.
The landscape is pretty cool actually. It is one of the few places on earth where all naturally occurring rocks are found. There were big chunks of marble just strewn all over the ground.

p.s. I know that in real life you have perfect grammar, but I was tickled by this phrase:

"The landscape it pretty cool actually."

I couldn't help thinking of "Mr. Kurtz, he dead," at the opening of Heart of Darkness. I now want to use "The landscape, it pretty cool actually" as the phrase to a novel if I ever, ever publish one. It will open in dialogue, as you can see.

Oh my! That was quite a silly typo. I am glad to hear it inspired you though. I can't wait for the novel!
