Barton Creek and Hula-Hooping
Great weekend! Chelsea's sister, Naomi, is visiting from Cincinnati, so we are trying to show her a good time.
Yesterday we went to the Barton Creek Greenbelt:
It is this amazing place where people congregate to swim and relax. It is very close to downtown but it doesn't feel like it.
Chelsea and Andre (a guy from school with astonishing hair) wade across the creek. It looks calm, but there was a pretty strong current. The creek has been dry for a long time because of droughts, so it is exciting to have it back in action again.
Shannon, Cindy, Steve, and Noah. Btw, Noah is from Minneapolis, and is in the first year class of landscape architects. Quite a coincidence to have two Minnesotans in such a small crowd, I think.
Chelsea, Alfonso, Naomi, and Shannon. No one ever really likes me to take their picture. This can make blogging difficult, but I persist.
The best part of the weekend, by far, has been a collective renewed love for hula-hooping! Chelsea, Shannon, Naomi, and I went to a bar on Friday night that had hula-hoops. We started doing it and loved it so much we had to go to Target on Saturday morning and buy some. Then we hooped our butts off all day wherever we went. The goal is to get really good at tricks and everything, and then after graduation, take this show on the road. As it really seems like there aren't any jobs in landscape architecture anyway. Hula-hooping may save us all!
Even Alfonso loved it:
And Beau and Noah couldn't resist giving it a try. How great is Noah's neon yellow outfit, with matching hula-hoop? Showing off that great Minnesota sense of style.
