5x5 Competition

This blog may have to get a new hooping-related title, as thats all I have to contribute lately. This week, in hooping news: we were the stars of the annual 5x5 landscape competition held by our ASLA student group in honor of Frederick Law Olmsted's birthday. You may remember this from last year; each MLA student designs a landscape for a 5x5 planting bed. Then we install them and have a party for 'FLO's' birthday. The landscapes can be totally literal or very conceptual. Shannon and I did an application for one that deals with the concept of landscape as theater. In the proposal Chelsea, Shannon, and I hula-hoop inside our landscape installations (the submission is pictured above). Obviously, we just wanted to opportunity to hoop more. But it turned out to be a huge hit. We brought extra hoops so other people could participate. Here we are in the 5x5's:

Awesome single-shoulder trick.

The professors loved it so much they shot some video of it, which may be forthcoming if I can get a hold of it.
