Progress?

Sorry I don't have anything new for the blog yet- but rest assured I have photos for you in the works. In the meantime, here is something I've been meaning to complain about publicly since last Fall, but haven't gotten around to. The city of Austin is removing all of the old, classic style parking meters and replacing them with these atrocious pay-to-park machines (pictured above). Believe it or not, I am actually all for technological progress, especially in urban infrastructure. But I have to say, I find these things absurd. The only benefit seems to be that you can use bills and credit cards in them instead of just coins. But they create waste by producing a ticket you have to stick inside your window. And otherwise they perform the exact same function as the old meters, which I presume are just being dumped in the trash. Also, they are a complete eyesore, whereas the old meters were low-profile and comfortable looking.

So there, I said it. Thanks for listening to my rant. And I will try to have a fun post up soon.

That picture of you with the meter, by the way, is awesome.
