Nobody

Hey guys- remember MCAD? This is a trailer for a movie that is coming out soon about a poor, lost soul, graduate student. That part I love. But the reason I am posting the clip is that the film was written by a Minnesotan, and a lot of the movie is shot at MCAD. I had almost forgotten those days, but it was fun to see. And I thought you might recognize some of it too...

I recognized Porky's, that much I know. This movie looks horrible (too many "random" bits that I feel pressured to find funny), but perhaps slightly amusing. I cannot relate to this guy, seeing as I had tons of direction as a grad student but then lost it all when I had kids. :)

I love that the soundtrack is by the dude from Guster. *SO* my generation. I remember seeing them in the dead of winter at BATES! And everyone was swooning over the drummer because he drummed so hard, he HAD TO TAPE UP HIS HANDS. Such COMMITMENT!! I'm silently weeping.

The grad student dude's friend kind of looks like Ashley, and by the way, I think she is way prettier than "the most beautiful girl in Minnesota" character, who looks like a poor man's Sienna Miller to me.

And now I bow out, to head to bed.

Andria, I think we could submit that review to the Pioneer Press, scathing as it was.

I totally agree about "the most beautiful girl in Minnesota." And I am not that interested in watching this guy go to gay clubs, and into the wilderness, etc. to find himself. But I can totally relate to the first part of the clip. Every time we have a free moment here everyone freaks out and wonders what the hell they are doing here. Or who the hell they are anymore for that matter. Also the part where he goes through his bad sketches of ideas for his big project. There is always that point in every design where you just have no good ideas, and failure seems inevitable.

Also, the first 1/4 of the clip is all at MCAD. Inside and out. I guess you are lucky not to know that place well enough to recognize it :)

I recognized some of the outside of MCAD! I think the only time I was ever there was to get my picture taken with you, your mom, and Dave (unless move-in day was a different day). Remember that?! Thanks for letting my stringy-haired, slightly sweaty self crash your family portrait. I would still see this movie, because secretly, I CAN probably relate to Grad Student Guy more than I want to.

Lastly, I knew someone would say my comment was "scathing," but I thought it would be your mom! :)
