Westcave Preserve

The first day back after Spring Break was an intense one. We went on a 12 hour hiking field trip into the Hill Country to study our new site. But I have to admit, my life is pretty sweet, and if this is a hard day's work, then I am a lucky gal.

We stopped for a tour of this wilderness preserve called Westcave. Here is our tour guide John. He was a pretty hilarious Texas character.

Inside the actual "Westcave." Some amazing rock formations had been destroyed by early visitors to the area, so the park has been a preserve since the 70's. This basically means they get funding by teaching school kids about ecology, and no one is allowed to touch ANYTHING.

Shannon, checking out some formations.

Pregnant Raina (in front), Christina, and Veronica hiking out of the cave. We are having a baby shower for Raina on Sunday. She is due in June. What an over-achiever!
