Pumpkin Carving Party
Hey Hey- I am alive! And I have the internet back at home. So I can post again...
We've been working pretty hard lately, so we decided to put together a little Halloween party for this weekend. Here is how it went:
Spiked Apple Cider. One part cider, two parts rum. That'll get this party started!
And some delicious butternut squash soup, compliments of Shannon. It wouldn't be grad school without some fabulous chefs on hand.
The obligatory pinata drinking a beer shot. Always hilarious.
Shannon and Berman from school.
This was Alfonso's first Halloween ever, being that he is from Spain. So we hauled out some classic activities from elementary school. He really thought we made up the game bobbing for apples. He was quite reticent to try it, considering it might be an elaborate hoax.
So Erik showed him it was possible.
And then it was on.
No Halloween party would be complete without pumpkin carving.
Alfonso looks like the proud papa of his first pumpkin ever.
Going to town.
Getting some lessons.
Watched over by that creepy pinata in a tree. Now Alfonso is going to forever link pinatas to the traditional American Halloween. We just thought it would be a fun way to give everyone some candy.

Seriously, glad to have you back. I laughed out loud at the idea that bobbing for apples was a hoax on Alfonso. Keep posting!!
