Lambchop!

Yes, its true. I have a new love, and her name is Lambchop.
I did not really let on to this new development earlier, as I knew there would be naysayers (and you know who you are). However, I must confess to my new companion, and tell you guys how she came to be with me...
Last weekend, before Erik left, we had a lazy morning watching Animal Cops Houston. Then we decided to go check out the local humane society. Just to pet some dogs, or whatever. Always a bad idea, I know. Anyway, we went there and it was appalling! It was huge, and there were more animals than I have ever seen in such a facility. But the kennels were outdoors, and everything stank really bad. Oh, it was just gross!
So we went into the kitty house, and almost immediately I spotted her. Twiggy's twin! She was in her little cage, and when I chirped to her she hopped off her bed and came to see me. And I saw that she had two nickel-sized wounds in her neck. It looked like she had been grabbed and bitten by a big dog or something! So, that tugged on my heart strings. It turned out she was a stray, and nobody knew how she got those, but she was in bad shape when she showed up. Then, we took her to the visiting room, and she was so sweet! She just loved to be petted (unlike Twiggy) and sat on our laps. I was hooked.
But I did not adopt her! I said to myself: NO, I can't! And we left. But of course, I couldn't stop thinking about her. I've been really missing Twiggy and Luna, but I know they have a good home far away. And I just didn't think I could make it through 3 years of grad school without a buddy. Also, I knew she had been at the shelter for two weeks already, and I didn't want to leave her there another day! AND, since it was August they were giving cats away for adoption because they had so many. So, after Erik left I went and picked her up. She hid under my bed for two days. But now she is the queen of this little place. She loves the laser pointer, and I am crazy about her. She is like a mix between Twiggy and Luna. She looks like Twiggy but has more of a Luna temperament. Of course, I still love those kitties more than anything. But now I have someone in Texas to play with.

Okay, we naysayers do know who we are, but I have to admit, she is a sweetie. She has an adorable little face. I hope she is a good companion.

Where did the name Lambchop come from? I like it.
