Hey Guys (Mom and Andria mostly), one of my classmates is hosting a pot luck next Saturday. Everyone is to bring a dish from their home state. I do not want to disappoint. But I also don't want to bring hotdish. Any suggestions? Help!
2. Soybeans - edamame dip with pita chips (I have a recipe; let me know if you want it)
- I have a recipe for a couscous, edamame, and feta dish that is quite tasty (still going on the soybean theme here)
- a version of Chex Mix with soy nuts thrown in
OK, enough soy...
3. Pork - stuffed mushrooms with bacon (I have a recipe)
4. Tomatoes - sliced heirloom (or regular) tomatoes with basil, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper. YUM. I know tomatoes aren't really "Minnesotan," but plenty of them are grown in MN, and heirloom tomatoes would be especially appropriate. And luckily you don't have a huge class, so they wouldn't be TOO expensive.
5. Honey That's all I got.
6. Dave had to suggest it: "Snicker Bar Salad." YUM. You would be thought of among your peers either as a total freak, or as a mad genius. I vote for the latter.
7. Apple pie "As American as..."
8. "Bars" Minnesotans love bars, right? I have a recipe (probably not Minnesotan) for delicious bars, with a coffee-cookie base, chocolate topping, and macadamia nuts on top...you know these, I make them every Christmas. You could hand them out and say, "Bears," in that MN accent.
9. Swedish meatballs
10. Coleslaw a classy coleslaw recipe, like from epicurious.com
These may not be helpful at all, but I had to try! Good luck! Post a picture of the finished product!
Grandma B passed away on September 27th. It was so very bittersweet to say goodbye after her long journey to the end. She was such an amazingly perfect grandma and a truly wonderful human being. We will all miss her so much. Here are some photos of her long and well-lived life.
