Bat City
Sometimes they call this place "Bat City." So we went downtown to the Congress St Bridge to see why...
This is about as sweaty as I look all the time now. And don't be alarmed if I am 4-5 shades darker when you see me next.
It was like the 4th of July. People flocked to this bridge to see the bats as they exited from underneath it at sundown. Unfortunately I couldn't get a pic of the actual bats, because it was too dark. So, you'll just have to come see for yourself!

On this same day we went to about every single independent bike shop in Austin, looking for something for Erik. (remember, I have absolutely no car now) We finally found this spunky red guy (a Bianchi) that we call Primio (in an Italian accent of course). And there's my bike, Big Red, in the back, safe and sound all the way from Minnesota.

And of course, Austin is the Capitol of the Great State of Texas. And it does have a gorgeous capital building and grounds, which are only about 2 miles from my apartment. Just another thing for "y'all" to see when you come down here.
...as you may have noticed, I am up and blogging at about 5am. I think I can't sleep because I start school this morning. I think I am more excited and nervous than my first day of kindergarten! Wish me luck, and I'll let you know how it goes later. Love, Britta

Wow, your apartment building has what my mom calls "a face only a mother could love." But, endearing.
I see that you are keeping my hours now! Cool! Gimme a call sometime at 5 a.m. and we'll chat. (Soren and I are always up at 4 these days. Actually, hopefully you won't be keeping these hours for too long.)
Oh no! I used your "comment" box for another long, awkward epistle. Apologies. We'll be thinking of you today!
